{Mythological Mondays Blog Tour Guest Post & Giveaway} TRINITY by C.J. Bolyne

Mythological Mondays is a feature I created to spotlight books brimming with--you guessed it--mythology! I adore this sub-genre and can't wait to share my love with all of my fellow bookworms! This feature isn't just focused on novel reviews; it may also include interviews, looks at original mythological tales, etc. Please feel free to do this with me! If you guys ever do a mythological feature and want to join this and snag my lovely mermaid, I would LOVE to see the feature. Leave a comment for us all to see! It doesn’t have to be Greek mythology, or even mythology per say. It can be mermaids, unicorns, or heck, even fairy tales (because I’m too lazy to do a separate fairy tale feature…). It doesn’t even have to be every Monday. I’m sure there will be Mondays when I skip, too!

C.J. was kind enough to put together a post on the gods in TRINITY after hearing about my Mythological Mondays feature.

C.J., thank you so much! I hope this post whets everyone's appetite for more!

Doing the Research
by C.J. Bolyne

Hi Fans of A Backwards Story! Thanks for having me on your blog on Day 14 of my virtual book blog tour – Only 1 more day to go! What a great trip this has been!

For those who are just joining the tour, my name is C.J. Bolyne, and I am a first time author. I'm a city girl originally born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, but that changed when my family moved about an hour south of Winnipeg, to the tiniest town you can imagine.

My book TRINITY is a fantasy book about the “Gods of Gwynneth”. This realm of gods consists of thirteen “good” gods and thirteen “bad” gods, plus two neutral gods.
I chose the Gods of Gwynneth because they were ones I had never before heard of plus I wanted to write about ancient gods. I was not at all interested in writing about gods that everyone already knew of.

Another interesting point that drew me to them is the fact that each of the thirteen gods had an opposite god counterpart. For example, there is Liesson – god of Combat and Honour, vs. Vladox – god of War and Destruction. The premise seemed to be that, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Good vs. Evil. I read some of the information on these gods, however, there was not a lot of information available about them. Certainly not like there is available for the Greek and Roman gods, who are more popular and well known.

When I wrote of a war in my book (in the beginning), I wrote of one god who died during the war. I would periodically go back and research the Gods of Gwynneth some more. The one thing I honestly did not realize is that in mythology, the Gods of Gwynneth actually did fight and there was a war between them. There was also one god that died. And it too was called “The War of Trinity.”

Although the storyline is of the Gwynneth gods, I do introduce some of the well-known Greek and Egyptian gods. In Book 2, there will be one goddess I will be introducing in the series who will be a key character: Nyx, Goddess of Night. Although I had heard of Nyx, I did not quite know where she fit in with the ancient gods. Upon doing more research, I found that she is one of the first-born of the elemental gods. These gods were thought to be the first ones that were born from creation, before Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, etc. They are Ancient Protogenoi. The elemental gods are: Kronos, Ananke, Eros, Gaea, Hemera, Nyx, Oceanus, Ourea, Pontus, Tethys, Thalassa, and Urnaus.

To wrap up, as I said, I am currently working on Book Two in the TRINITY series. The story continues leaving Payton to face new challenges in her journey to her ultimate fate.
